I am happy to announce that I will be attending WonderCon 2015 on behalf of Reaxxion. This is a first for our website and will hopefully be something we do more of in the future. I have officially received my confirmation email for my press pass and will be covering the event starting next Friday, April 3.
For those of you unfamiliar with WonderCon, it’s a convention run by Comic-Con International, the same organization that runs San Diego Comic-Con. However, WonderCon is a significantly smaller convention compared to San Diego Comic-Con. This works in the convention’s favor by providing a more intimate venue for pop culture fans to come together.
Since WonderCon’s move from San Francisco to Anaheim in 2012, the convention has grown and begun to resemble its big brother’s more commercial aspects. Despite the fact that WonderCon basically takes place in my own backyard, I haven’t gone since it first moved to Anaheim in 2012. It’ll be interesting to see how the convention has changed since then. As part of my coverage, I will be attending the show for all three days and will be taking in all aspects of the convention.
All of the panels and exhibitors have been announced and I’ve been going over what I plan on seeing at the convention. I have unofficially dubbed Friday “Batman Day” as I will be attending a panel on Batman featuring several writers and artists working on Batman comics, including the current Batgirl series. I will also be attending the premiere of Batman vs. Robin, a new animated film set to hit store shelves in April. Saturday will be a bit more nuanced as I will be attending a Capcom panel which will hopefully provide updates on upcoming games, and of course there will be Marvel’s panel among others. Sunday will be a bit of a wild card as I plan on focusing on the convention floor.
You can expect daily updates from me during the convention. If you haven’t already, you can follow me on Twitter here as I live-Tweet my coverage of WonderCon.
