
You hear a lot of whining about something being “too white” and/or “too male” these days. The purveyors of modern wisdom have decreed that “diversity” is the noblest of goals. Go to virtually any company website and you’ll find heaps of proclamations about how they value diversity alongside staunch praise of its vaguely-defined benefits. Any group that is determined to be “hideously white” will be purified by those who worship at the altar of diversity.
Unfortunately, “diversity” as defined by the left results in unequal treatment and outright discrimination.
Because of “diversity” mandates, police departments all around the country have to lower standards to allow formerly unqualified minorities and women into the ranks. For example, the New Haven Fire Department refused to promote white candidates who scored well on a promotional exam because blacks and Hispanics did not score as well on that same exam. The FDNY has to pay $98 million for precisely the same reason because, once again, blacks and Hispanics performed significantly poorer on a test than whites did, with the test deemed somehow “discriminatory” against them. Exactly how these test questions were biased against certain people but not others is something for more “enlightened” people to determine.
What’s The Big Deal About Diversity?
One question that’s rarely asked is this: what’s so great about diversity? Diversity of opinion is certainly not welcomed when discussing this topic. In fact, the mere act of questioning diversity could get you kicked off a college campus or fired from your job. People are expected to agree that diversity is the best thing ever without any kind of justification.
If you were to ask an SJW why they love diversity so much, you’re likely to hear a feel-good platitude along the lines of “loving all people” or “there is only one race, the human race.” Pushing them for an substantive answer will get you castigated as a Nazi. Diversity is supposed to be accepted as a good thing because everyone says it’s good and only a racist or sexist would dare question it.
In practice, “diversity” simply means fewer white men, and it supersedes notions of quality and equality. Actual evidence of discrimination is never required. A group comprised of mostly white men is seen as proof of injustice for no other reason than its existence.
There has been a lot of indignation over the fact that more men than women create and play video games, and people are trying to rectify this by any means necessary. They believe the gaming community/industry should have an equal number of men and women of all races because: diversity. For example, Polygon bleated about the problem when they reported these figures from a 2005 study:
Whites made up 85 percent of game development workers followed by Asians (7.5 percent). African Americans were just two percent while Hispanics were 2.5 percent.
The gender ratio is also too far out of whack for the Diversity Cult’s liking. For example, Kotaku scored a two-fer in waxing indignant gender wage gap myth and lamenting the unsatisfactory percentage of females in the industry:
As you can see, most fields in the industry have around 10-20% female representation. Some go as low as 5%. And those who are in the trade are paid significantly less than their male counterparts.
Given that Kotaku is so unhappy about the lack of diversity in the industry, you’d figure they’d practice what they preach and have a multiracial, multigender staff. But it looks like they don’t:
Kotaku Staff: 90% male, 9% female. 82% lighter tone. 18% darker tone. 0% disabilities. 5% LGBT.
Assuming there is equal opportunity for all people in gaming (which there is), why would rational people think it’s a problem when more men than women are gamers? Why is the fact that more men than women work in the gaming industry automatically assumed to be a reprehensible injustice? Diversity idealism apparently doesn’t inspire rational thought.
The Problem With “Diversity”
People who believe in blanket equality invent massive conspiracies to desperately explain away disparities. If all people are not succeeding at the same level as white men, some form of (unprovable) “white male privilege” or discrimination is the only possible explanation in their minds. Since they believe men and women are virtually identical, they attribute the higher number of men in the gaming industry solely to malice.
To even consider that all people are not perfectly equal in every way is unthinkable, so this never-ending struggle for “equality” and “diversity” requires massive, constant manipulation to maintain the illusion.
The gaming industry is not alone: tech companies have also been chastised for their lack of diversity.

Its astonishing how white men are able to coordinate such large scale, uniform discrimination so effectively.
Facebook’s unintentionally hilarious “Global Head Of Diversity” writes:
Diversity is something that we’re treating as everyone’s responsibility at Facebook, and the challenge of finding qualified but underrepresented candidates is one that we’re addressing as part of a strategic effort across Facebook
The challenge to find qualified but underrepresented non-white/Asian men probably does require everyone, as it’s a big problem for every other tech company out there. Then there’s this gem:
Providing unconscious bias training for employees
The extremely subjective category of “unconscious bias” probably doesn’t include plainly stating the obvious: Facebook hires more white and Asian men because they are generally better at the job. That would probably be considered “conscious bias”—or what I would call “an uncomfortable truth”—that would result in immediate termination.
Racial/gender quotas have no place in a society that values equal treatment and quality over quantity. Lack of diversity is only a problem to those who want to believe all people are equal so they can feel better about themselves and maintain their delusional worldview.
An interesting (if tiring) exercise would be to ask an SJW to explain the concrete benefits of diversity. The next time one of them claims that the reason so few women and minorities work in the tech/gaming industry is because they are mercilessly discriminated against and/or sadistically “terrorized” by domineering white men, point out the inordinate number of Asians who have apparently gone unnoticed by the ruthless guys who tirelessly maintain their white male space.
Better yet, when they whine about how there are too many white men in gaming, simply respond with “so what?”
