We certainly have some treats in store for us. As the new year approaches, so do a host of new titles from various developers, both Indie and AAA. I am sure all of you have re-hashes of your favourite franchises coming—I know I certainly do.
The one thing striking me is that the 2015 releases are actually going to use current technology to the max. This will unfortunately mean that many PC users are going to have to upgrade their hardware. Dual Cores will no longer cut it unless you are willing to play with shitty settings on your game and 2GB graphics cards will be a minimum requirement. Decent ram will probably be at the 16gb level. All part of the life of the gaming Master Race!
Amongst the upcoming 2015 releases, these four are probably the ones I am itching to get my hands on the most…
Star Wars: Battlefront
Star Wars universe, Frostbite 3 engine, massive Dice / Sega budget. This game is going to be amazing on so many levels. My money is on this being the most incredible Star Wars game yet. For those of you unfamiliar with it, Frostbite delivers an amazing first person shooter experience with destructible environments. The Dice team have been behind the Battlefield series of online massive multiplayer titles.
These guys are sure to do a great job on the game and soon you will be able to take part in the epic battles seen in the movies both on land and space. Many of the vehicles seen in the films will also be available to use. Combat will be both urban and in the field with the added dimension of battles in space.
The last incarnation of this game was Star Wars Battlefront 2 which featured a total absence of any form of support whatsoever and didn’t for reasons unknown work on many pc’s. With them handing over the reins to Dice though, my money is on this game being a great way to kill spare time.
This game will be on PS4, Xbox one and PC. The PC specs required have not been released yet but I am guessing you will need a quad core with 8gb ram and a 2gb graphics card as a bare minimum and a quad core with 16gb ram and 3gb graphics card to begin to see its full capabilities.
Star Citizen
I am a proud crowd funder of this game. I have played games made by Chris Roberts before and I trust his vision and integrity completely to deliver up what will probably be the magnum opus of space simulators. I am not alone in this. The fact that so much money is being spent on this game points to an older generation of gamers with cash to burn on their hobby funding someone who has their gaming interests at heart. Some pledge packages sell for as much as $15k and they sold out quite quickly.
Star Citizen will be PC only as the scope of the game that is being presented cannot be experienced with the limited control and interaction setup offered by consoles.
The Minimum system requirements are: Windows 7 or 8 64-bit, Dual Core CPU (Intel: Core2 Duo 2.4Ghz, AMD: Phenom X2) 8GB of RAM, NVidia Geforce 460GTX, AMD Radeon HD5850 (DirectX 11 only)”.) The Recommended system requirements are: i5 2500, i7 2600, 2700 or better with a GTX 670 or greater (DX 11 only).
And for a smooth experience at maximum settings at 1080p, a R9 290x or GTX 780 will be required (a GTX 680/R9 280x will likely achieve decent playback). For a 4K experience, a pair of mid-high end cards (680/770 7970/280x or better) or a future high end card (GTX 1080 or R9 390x etc) will be required.
If you are planning to play this game, start saving for a hardware upgrade because you will need it, The recommended hardware will not give you a great experience with this game.
Total War: Attila
This is a PC only game. As a huge fan of the Total War series, it’s a foregone conclusion that I will acquire this game the moment it becomes available on Steam. This incarnation will feature Europe during the times of decline in the Roman empire. The last rendition of this time period in a Total War Game was Barbarian Invasion. I can’t wait to send an army of Hun horsemen to capture Jerusalem, tear down the temples and make the ornery people that live there worship some nasty Hun gods.
Stated minimum hardware requirements are for a dual core, 3ghz, 3gb ram and a 512mb graphics card. Recommended hardware is a 2nd gen intel i5 with 4 gb ram and a minimum 2 gb graphics card.
They are telling lies—you will need at least a 3,4ghz quad core and 16gb ram on a 3gb graphics card to enjoy this game and even then it will make your PC feel like a clapped out Pentium 1 with 8mb ram at times. If you can afford to put 32gb ram in your machine and you can get hold of one of the AMD 8 Core chips, do it.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance
KC Deliverance will make use of Cry Engine 3 to bring the medieval world back to life on PC’s and consoles. It is also a game being made in the face of a lot of squealing from the SJW crowd and feminists for its lack of tough chick characters, ethnic diversity and queens with cocks. Thankfully the head developer, legendary Daniel Vavra, couldn’t give a shit and is amped to give us a historically accurate portrayal of the early 15th century in all its gory male dominated magnificence. Daniel Vavra has the interests of his fans at heart and can be trusted to deliver us a masterpiece.
KC Deliverance will be released on Xbox, Playstation and PC. Warhorse Studios have not released the hardware requirements for the game yet but to have a decent experience you will have to be running machines as powerful as the recommended specs for the games mentioned above.
